From Tristram to Hollywood

Now this could be interesting. The current trend of movies in Hollywood seem focused on taking success in one format and bringing it to the silver screen. It’s worked for Spiderman, the X-men, the Brady Bunch and many others. Even Resident Evil got a decent tranfer, the second movie being great til the last 5 minutes. [The third movie will be out later this year and it’s even odds on how that will go.]
Sadly this doesn’t mean that you have a great film. The Hulk, Punisher and Silent Hill are all awsomely bad. I won’t even mention the video games that were made just for the films.
But now we have a new trend that follows in the footsteps of a decent The Rock film, Doom. Yes Diablo will now be coming to a theatre near you. Currently reported in production with Legendary Pictures, the people behind 300. That was a decent film, if not a bit heavy on CGI and light on anything else.
They are also working on a film version of WOW (World of Warcraft), which should be interesting if they get it right.
Hmmm, MMO’s and computer games on film. Yeah that will make money. How long until GTA (Grand Theft Auto) gets a film?
