Mitt Romney takes the wrong approach

Hot Air points to a page of Q&As for presidential candidates on Common Sense Media where Romney came in as the token conservative, and his response on the subject of violent video games is pretty awkward (Hat tip: Little Green Footballs). He says:
I want to restore values so children are protected from a societal cesspool of filth, pornography, violence, sex, and perversion. I’ve proposed that we enforce our obscenity laws again and that we get serious against those retailers that sell adult video games that are filled with violence and that we go after those retailers.
I may be a conservative, but this is a pretty dumb move on Romney’s part. As much as I dislike say, Mortal Kombat, I realize that censoring violent games like that just isn’t the right approach. Rather, it’s offering a proper education to the public on why games like that are bad that should be done. I wouldn’t be surprised if even Romney himself knows that in the land of the Constitution, that kind of dopey announcement isn’t going to get him very far. If he’s smart, he’ll refrain from taking about literal censorship for the rest of the campaign year.
