This was like a followup to Alpha Denshi’s earlier Time Soldiers, only this time, you’ve got three ninjas as the players, which could explain why it’s a pretty tongue-in-cheek kind of game! A scientist sends the trio to try and stop an evil scientist named Spider from using a time machine to muck around with history, leading to the threesome battling their way through a couple different eras for starters. Note that in order to fire in 8-way patterns, you need to push both A and B buttons to fire shuri-kens; the main firepower only goes straight forward. And on this stage, note that the two sub-bosses, the sumo wrestlers, certainly need to be dealt with using the special 8-way firepower, since the regular only has minimal effect.
It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty entertaining, and check out the scrolling dialect on the status bars of the players, some of which is pretty amusing!
