Karate Champ: grandfather of the one-on-ones

This is the true template for the Street Fighter games. It began with Karate Champ, where you have a one-on-one match between two martial arts experts. It required more than just a 2 out of 3 victory to fully win the contests, but it works well. In between some of the matches, you even get special bonus stage features, such as where you need, but with pinpoint timing, to knock down, say, butterflies and bottles, though the part where you need to karate-chop a couple of bricks is probably the easiest.
How about that. This is what inspired Capcom to make Street Fighter just 3 years later, which then, after another 4 years, would have an even more groundbreaking and successful sequel that’d change the face of fighting games forever.
