This might’ve been inspired by the Cold War, although Data East never really confirmed that. You play as a coal miner who got struck by a Chernobyl-type nuclear accident, and now possesses superpowers which he uses to escape from the commie country he lives in to make his way to the US.
Funny thing about this game is that Data East said it was meant to be a sequel to Karnov, of all things, and didn’t really draw its inspiration from the news of Russia’s Chernobyl accident that took place a few years before the game was made, but who knows? Maybe it was inspired by that.
