This is one of Namco’s first ventures into the 3-D market, a followup to the classic Xevious that expands upon much of what made that older game so great, and even reminds me a little bit of Tatsumi’s airplane game called Lock-On from 1986. You battle at least one of the fortress’ from the first game here in 3-D format in the sky, travel through a maze-like mountain complex, and even blast off into space! Definitely a classic for the 3-D genre.
