Shortly after the colossal success of Pac-Man, there came Ms. Pac-Man, made by Midway after they obtained the special rights to making a sequel to the first game from Namco. This was the first official female star in video games, and was just as successful, and also helped to cash in on the female fandom that Pac-Man had first gathered.
