This may have been an attempt to make a game that expanded on the approach used in Street Smart and Pit Fighter combined with Street Fighter, and there are weapons provided on occasion by various pedestrians coming by in the stages.
Unfortunately, the game was no more successful than the two games it may have been inspired by, though it has gained some cult notice since then by those who like the Neo-Geo system.
The title, if you’re curious, is meant to be a parody of Mortal Kombat, while at the same time using the same letters as the acronym Alpha Denshi made out of their own name in subsequent years that was meant to make them sound similar to SNK, which now owns their properties. It’s definitely a lot better than Mortal Kombat, due in part to the fact that, unlike that awful game with digital graphics, it’s far from being a gory horrorfest, one of the reasons I’d rather play this game than Midway’s monstrosity. (Speaking of which, the fortunate thing about Mortal Kombat, I suppose, is that any profits made on it went down with each consecutive production, one of the reasons why Midway got reduced to a third-party game developer. Also, their pinball business collapsed.)
