Here they come, those pesky Space Invaders are back again to menace the earth, in the third game that was produced in this classic series. Note that in the first of the four recordings here, you’ll see that a two-player game was initially optioned:

This is the first time the series actually used music. You get the possibility of a powerup here, supplied by some of the ships that sail across at the top of the screen. The aliens usually first appear in a swirling form of ranks, then appear in the standard phalanx used in the first and second game. One of the aliens even has a sharp laser blast that gives what sounds like a “ping” when fired. There’s even at times a boss challenge with bonus points awarded afterwards. Sometimes the shields move around to complicate your firing space too.

Overall, quite a wonderful game.
