X-Men vs Street Fighter - wildest combination you never dreamt!

Well, certainly not until Capcom thought to do it, that’s for sure! But, come 1996, that’s what they did, introducing a tag team system that came as an exciting surprise for everyone. Here is a special post featuring mainly the epilogues for the characters featured in the game:
8 characters from both the Marvel Universe and Capcom, plus even Akuma, are prominently featured here. I think Rogue’s special gimmick for grabbing and kissing opponents in order to siphon at least one power from each is the most amusingly cartoonish - maybe she and Ryu ought to be a couple together! Interesting thing about this game is that - Apocalypse is not really the final battle - you need to first defeat him with a specific player, that is, either one you’re playing with, and then in the finale, you’ll battle solo against the other player you’d first chosen. Sometimes during gameplay, there’s an opponent or two who can appear more than once, usually with a different tag partner than what you saw them with at first.
This game also uses the characters as featured in the first of the 3 Street Fighter Alpha games. I think it’s safe to say that Charlie survives his nasty encounter in Shadaloo, though it still does provoke quite a justifiably angry reaction from Guile. The ending for Rogue, in which Chun Li makes a point about her ability to launch fireballs, is also pretty good, though if you know about Rogue’s origin in the comics, you’ll know why she’s lamenting as she does here.
There’s also the ability to “deflect” an opponent’s attacks, which can certainly come in useful against Apocalypse, which may be initiated by pressing all 3 punch buttons together, just as you press all 3 kick buttons for the super jump. A splendidly designed fighting game that’s a lot of fun, and which led later on to the production of Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter.
