This is the Commodore 64 version of a most famous game first made in 1983:
The object here is to collect the special icons in this ladder and pole filled space while avoiding the enemies constantly trying to catch up with you. You can dig special holes in which to stick them momentarily, and through which you can escape when needed. These guys can even sometimes pick up the icons, which means you need to dig holes specially in order to make them drop them, and while they’re in the holes, you can walk over them safely. It was so popular in its time that Irem Corp even made a special arcade port of the game. A very clever concept indeed.
