Short video of Flipull

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
Also called Plotting in the US.

An interesting puzzle game where you need to clear a certain number of cubes with various shapes and colors on them, including Taito’s own logo symbol! It’s pretty complicated, and there are times when you may have a “miss” or even a stalemate, resulting [...]

This is the sequel to the first game, and just as brilliant.

Tecmo Stackers: the chain reaction puzzle game

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits.
Click ahead to watch.

Similar to Puyo Puyo, the object here is to clear a number of the blocks with goofy expressions on them and then dump the results on your opponent’s side in the form of glass balls by causing chain reactions, first by clearing 4 or more, and [...]

Streets of Rage video

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits.
In six recordings:

This was the first of a series of beat-em-ups Sega made specially for the home consoles. 3 police officers fight to defeat an evil crime syndicate that’s conquered their city. It may have been inspired by Final Fight, and if memory serves, the second game certainly had [...]

Filming of Final Star Force

Right after the click.

The sequel to Star Force has even better graphics, and is a lot of fun.

Bermuda Triangle brief

Right after the jump.

A nice looking shoot-em-up set in the ocean around the title area. I like how the designers thought to put in some submarines as enemies. In Japan, the game is called World Wars.

Pocket Fighter posting

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits.
Whoa, here’s something entertaining: a combo video of a special cartoony version of Street Fighter, where the characters appear in miniaturized format! Take a look.

Some of these stunts are downright hilarious, and it’s quite amusing how they draw even Zangieff in that mini-cartoon design. Simply genius.

Video Game Review: 50 Cent Blood on the Sand

Written by Michael Vass
In the world of video gaming there is the latest release from former crack dealer 50 cent. In yet another attempt to create an image beyond the sell-out corporate minstrel, 50 cent has put out 50 cent: Blood on the Sand. It is a self-serving glob of software, styled in a 3rd-person [...]

The House of the Dead 3 recording

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
In five videos:

The third entry takes place almost 20 years later, and stars Lisa, the daughter of one of the special agents named Rogan, alongside the one who made a cameo in the second game known only as G. It harkens back to Curien, the villain from the first [...]

First, here’s a special review taping.

And, for a more complete recording, click here.
An enjoyable adventure set in a future time (certainly at the time this was made) where the earth’s been invaded by a huge terrorist force, and it’s up to 2 commandos to put an end to the [...]

Star Force multimedia

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
This video features two home versions of the game, showing the fair differences between them.

One of numerous Xevious clones designed around that time, this is a pretty good entry in that line of classics. It would be followed up on by Final Star Force several years later.

Something I learned years before

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
This article tells what can happen if you keep too tight a grip on a joystick, and tells of a new form deriving from the same effects:
LONDON (Reuters) - Gamers beware: Keeping too tight a grip on the console and furiously pushing the buttons can cause a newly identified [...]

Now this is really surprising

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
Elder of Zion (via The Jawa Report) has an interesting story about how a video game for the Playstation where you battle against Islamists was actually sold in Saudi Arabia.
I wonder if there’s a reason why this hasn’t been reported in the MSM? Good question.

Little Nemo’s Adventures in Slumberland

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
In three recordings:

Based on the noted comic strip by Windsor McKay, this is a charming game where you guide the young hero and a pal named Flip through the magical dream world to defeat evil demons who’d been accidentally released from their cells. It’s a very good, colorful [...]

Simpsons Bowling game

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
In 2000, Konami still had a license to make a game based on the Simpsons. But this time, rather than a beat-em-up game, they made a bowling game hosted by cast of characters from the series!

It’s well done for a game set around the bowling alley, including the 3D [...]

A video of Trojan

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
This is the NES version of the game.

A pretty simple one player beat-em-up where you’re on a mission to defeat some enemies inspired by Greek mythology, which includes the one in the title, but mainly the one named Achilles.

California law prohibiting sale of violent games to minors struck down

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
I think this is a serious mistake:
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A federal appeals court on Friday struck down a California law that sought to ban the sale or rental of violent video games to minors.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the 2005 law violates minors’ rights [...]

The learning curve

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
Microsoft is looking at the educational side of computer games:

The Right to Hyperlink

Submitted by Law of the Game

Virtua Fighter 2 video

Submitted by Gaming Briefs and Nostalgia Bits
Right after the jump.

Produced the year after the first game, this adds 2 or 3 more new players, and the graphics are much improved. Dural is still the main boss to be won against though. Overall, well done.
