A taping of Biomechanical Toy

By admin | September 24, 2009

Now here’s a pretty wacky game. Check this one out:

A magical world populated by toy figures is being menaced by a villain called Scrubby, who was once banished from the kingdom for felonies he’d committed and is now back to take revenge, which he does by stealing a magic pendulum that animates the toys, using it to round up an army of evil toys. As the hero Inguz, your job is to put a stop to this sinister fiend and regain the pendulum. Along the way, there’s also good toys who provide extra help. A very colorful and brilliant concept. It was the only arcade game developed by Zeus Software, a Spanish game company that designed games mainly for the Amiga and the Amstrad.

Hey there, I loved playing this game. It was so much fun. It’s one genre I never got tired of playing was the Contra-style shoot em up.

Imagine my surprise when the other day, I watched the 80’s movie To Live And Die In L.A. for the first time. The opening music by Wang Chung had the exact same music as the last stage of this game! Imagine my next surprise when a quick search of the web showed that nobody else seemed to have noticed this.

Oh well. Biomechanical Toy wasn’t a big hit for a game, and perhaps it was overlooked by bigger hits at the time like Final Fight.
